The 2017-18 Classical Season is newly announced and includes the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Ying Quartet with cellist Zuill Bailey and new artistic director Barry Shiffman, the 2015 Chopin Competition Winner Seong-Jin Cho, soprano Dawn Upshaw, Indianapolis Competition winner violinist Jinjoo Cho (pictured), cellist Clemens Hagen with pianist Kirill Gerstein, Juilliard415 with baroque violinist Rachel Podger, and holiday program by Cantus. Jazz at the Shalin Liu Performance Center is hot this summer with Tamir Hendelman Trioand Lizz Wright, and later this Fall jazz violinist Regina Carter. The summer continues with such artists as the New Orleans supergroup Dirty Dozen Brass Band (pictured), folk legend Tom Rush, and the iconic trumpeter and bandleader from the Tonight Show band Doc Severinsen.  Thank you to our Summer at Rockport Corporate Partner Sotheby’s By the Sea. This summer, don’t miss the Metropolitan Opera’s summer encores of Carmen and Nabucco. In September, a special film event with the silent film that inspired many avenging characters following it–The Mark of Zorro (pictured) with live music by the critically acclaimed ensemble Hesperus.  The National Theatre also presents a summer series with such productions as Yerma.  The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD 2017-18 Season is announced with such productions as Cosi fan tutte, Tosca and La Bohème.  General public tickets are now on sale.

Rockport Music is dedicated to fostering an appreciation of music through accessible programs for people of all ages throughout Cape Ann.  Also, this year Rockport Music, in collaboration with the Rockport Public Schools, hosted a two-week Jazz Camp in late July for young people interested in learning more about jazz and improvisation.
