Come on out for an intriguing double bill that brings together a road-tested melodically gifted Americana group with a recently crowned American Idol winner and budding songwriter. The pairing of singer Nick Fradiani with The Alternate Routes is a match made in folk pop heaven.

The Alternate Routes

A folk pop group with a penchant for writing infectious, emotionally-charged anthems, The Alternate Routes have spent the last decade touring and recording steadily until becoming one of the most beloved roots acts in the country.  Founders Tim Warren and Eric Donnelly are just now hitting their stride, bolstered by the massive success of their single “Nothing More” and their newest hit ‘Safe Haven.”

Warren and Donnelly began playing together at Fairfield University, and in 2002 officially formed The Alternate Routes using Bridgeport, Connecticut as their home base. They released their debut record a few years later, a self-released guitar-driven pop rock gem entitled Good and Reckless and True. The duo’s songwriting talents did not go unnoticed as their tune “Ordinary” was awarded Independent Song of the Year. After hearing the promising debut, Vanguard Records quickly scooped up the band and rereleased the album on a wider scale. The band began touring the country in earnest, slowly gaining a loyal following. Their follow-up, 2008’s Sucker’s Dream, continued the Routes’ ascendency and included a guest vocal turn by the great Patty Griffin.

Despite steadily gaining fans and piling up critical accolades, the band’s fortunes took a giant leap forward in 2013 with the release of Nothing More.  By then, Warren and Donnelly’s songwriting had featured a more acoustic folk pop approach and the results were startling. The album’s single “Nothing More” began gaining traction on AAA radio and was placed prominently in the television hit NCIS. In 2014 the song was chosen to be featured at the end of the Opening Ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics and suddenly The Alternate Routes were burning up the charts. It became the 5th most popular song on Sirius’ The Pulse.

In the wake of the success of “Nothing More,” the band has ramped up their touring and have been busy recording. Their most recent single “Safe Haven,” finds the band embracing a more sonically lush sound, but retains the core of anthemic melodies and soaring pristine harmonies.
