A talented traditional folk quintet from Southern Ireland, Caladh Nua work in that sweet spot between youthful vibrancy and devoted traditionalism. The Irish upstarts have become one of the most in demand Celtic ensembles on the scene today, boasting five musicians with a veritable trove of awards between them.
Since Caladh Nua (Irish for “new harbor”) was founded in 2009, they have released three critically acclaimed albums, beginning with Happy Days in 2009, followed by Next Stop in 2011, and then Honest to Goodness in 2014. In recent years the lineup has changed, with multi-instrumentalist Brian Mooney and guitarist Caoimhín Ó Fearghail replacing Eoin O’ Meachair and Colm O’Caoimh respectively. Singer/fiddler Lisa Butler, accordionist Derek Morrissey, and fiddler Paddy Tutty round out the group.
With tours taking them all over the globe, including high profile stops in cities such as Paris, Vienna, Copenhagen, Berlin, Mumbai and Vancouver, Caladh Nua has cast a uniquely captivating net of Irish music and song over an ever widening worldwide audience.
