Singer, comedian, movie actor, Broadway star, game show host…John Davidson has spent a lifetime in entertainment. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In fact, his supple voice, storytelling verve and rakish charm have only improved with age. He’ll be bringing all his considerable talents to Rockport for his debut at the Shalin Liu Performance Center.

Longtime host of The Hollywood Squares

Many people recognize John Davidson as the charismatic host of several popular game shows like The Hollywood Squares (both the original in the 60’s and the revival in the 80’s), That’s Incredible!, and The $10,000 Pyramid. He also starred in several Broadway shows (Foxy), television series’ (The Girl with Something Extra), and movies (The Happiest Millionaire). He even spent time as a guest host of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson for several weeks.  But through all his various acting and hosting duties, Davidson always made sure to stoke his singing career. He released several pop albums on Columbia Records throughout the 60’s and 70’s, enjoying success on the easy listening charts.

In recent years, Davidson has returned to his favorite art form, the theater. He has appeared in a slew of plays and musicals, including playing the role of Henry in the revival of The Fantasticks and the Wizard in the hit show Wicked. John is the author of the autobiographical play Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and the educational book The Art of the Singing Entertainer.  His beloved concerts feature a mix of old classics, new compositions, a dash of comedy and a whole lot of pure entertainment.
