A fixture in New Orleans for the last 30 years, The Subdudes combine Americana, country soul, folk and rock and roll for an intoxicated blend of passionate, joyous roots music.  They are touring off their acclaimed all-acoustic 11th record 4 on the Floor.

"If you didn't know them before, be prepared to walk away a fan, and with a smile on your face." - AllMusic Guide

Centered around the songwriting and vocals of Tommy Malone (guitar) and John Magnie (accordion, keyboards), The Subdudes formed in 1987 after an impromptu gig at New Orleans’ famed Tipitina’s music club. Almost instantly, the group which also included percussionist Steve Amedée and bassist Johnny Ray Allen, gained a large local following based on a unique sound that included funky infectious rhythms and soulful boisterous vocal harmonies.

After releasing a strong eponymous debut in 1989, the quartet began getting recognized outside of their homebase of Louisiana, playing the festival circuit. Despite not gaining heavy radio play, the band’s fanbase grew rapidly due to their breakneck touring schedule and spirited live performances. Critically-adored records like 1994’s Annunciation and 1996’s Primitive Streak (the latter of which included guest Bonnie Raitt) showcased the band at its creative and commercial peak, but also proved to be its last recorded offerings for almost a decade. The band went on extended hiatus in 1996 as members pursued their own artistic avenues. Fan demands for a reunion grew louder every year until the band got back together in 2002. Miracle Mule, produced by blues great Keb Mo’, came out in 2004 and signaled the formal return of one of New Orleans most beloved musical acts. Since their reunion, the band has found a new gear, recording six records including 2016’s much-heralded 4 on the Floor.
