Do not miss the event of the season!

On Saturday, August 3, Rockport Music’s Summer Gala features Broadway and TV star Matthew Morrison, who became a megastar as Mr. Schuester on the Golden Globe Award-winning TV show GLEE.  A Broadway star who most recently performed the lead in the incredible production of Finding Neverland, he will perform an evening of Broadway favorites, American Songbook, and other gems at the Shalin Liu Performance Center. Prior to the performance, guests will enjoy a celebratory evening of cocktails and dinner at the beautiful Millbrook Meadow.

A Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, actor-singer-dancer Matthew Morrison is recognized worldwide for his roles on-screen and on the Broadway stage.

Matthew will arrive in Rockport directly from the set of his new role in this upcoming season’s American Horror Story: 1984 (Season 9).  His most recent Broadway role was as J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland, in which he received two Drama Desk nominations and won Favorite Actor in the Broadway.com Audience Awards. However, most of the world knows him for his iconic and endearing role as Mr. Schuester on the explosively successful musical comedy television hit Glee, which received Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series—Comedy or Musical in both 2010 and 2011. He has also had tremendous success as a recurring guest star on Grey’s Anatomy and The Good Wife. On the big screen, Matthew has starred in What to Expect When You’re Expecting along with Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Dennis Quaid.

A highly successful Broadway star, Matthew Morrison made his Broadway debut in Footloose, but theater-lovers will also remember him as the heartthrob Link Larkin in the hit musical Hairspray. Having starred in the Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific at Lincoln Center, he continues to receive recognition for his performances, including a Tony Award nomination for his role in The Light in the Piazza and a Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Actor in 10 Million Miles.

As a recording artist, Matthew’s latest release Where It All Began features Broadway favorites and had the Washington Post lauding his “handsome tenor” and “excellent taste.” He also released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to great acclaim. Currently, Morrison is part of the panel for a new dance competition series on BBC One, entitled The Greatest Dancer. In addition to his film, television, music and theater credits, Morrison launched the retail company Sherpapa in 2017 with friend and colleague Zach McDuffie to encourage shared experiences and family adventure, especially for new dads.  Morrison studied musical theater, vocal performance and dance at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and currently resides in New York.  ARTIST WEBSITE
