The Rockport Music Board of Trustees is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s Rockport Music Board of Trustees Scholarship, given in honor of Susan Gray and Alec Dingee and Eve and Phil Cutter. This year’s scholarships were awarded to two talented and deserving young musicians—one from Rockport High School and one from Gloucester High School. Learn more about these rising two music majors.
Emily Frick, a Gloucester High School 2020 graduate, was accepted to Hofstra, Gettysburg College, Boston Conservatory, and NYU. She plans to attend NYU in the fall studying vocal performance.
A featured vocalist for the Docksiders, she has been awarded honors for Excellence in Music by Gloucester High School as well as the Quincy Jones Musicianship award, given to those who show extraordinary musical growth. She is also a member of the Annisquam Village Singers and Village Players, a privilege she has enjoyed for the past twelve years. In addition to her musical accolades, she is a member of the National Honors Society, a volunteer at the Gloucester Welcome Center, and acting Student Director for the Canal Chorale. In addition, she was a member of the Drama Club, featured in lead roles of Mamma Mia and Beauty and the Beast.
Katherine Hill, a Rockport High School 2020 graduate, was accepted to Berklee College of Music, Drexel University, UMASS Boston, and The New School. She plans to attend The New School in the fall for vocal performance. Katherine has been accepted to the joint bachelor/master’s program, giving her the ability to complete both degrees in just five years’ time.
As the lead singer of local band Totality, she recorded her first EP last fall titled Pilot. At Rockport High School she has been a member of multiple ensembles including the orchestra, jazz band, choir, and madrigal choir as well as various chamber music ensembles. Last summer she had the privilege of interning at the Newport Jazz and Folk Festival, working in artist relations, which helped inspire her desire to study music in college.
We at Rockport Music wish both students all the best with their music education and career pursuits in the coming years!
