The Chamber Music Concert features NMYO’s top musicians all of whom demonstrate a high level of skill and musicianship. This special concert will include music from some of the great masters of the chamber music genre as well as contemporary composers.

This year’s concert features works by Haydn, Holst, Shostakovich, William Grant Still and more. A rousing percussion ensemble will liven things up along with a brass ensemble, string quartets, saxophone quartet, woodwind ensembles and a piano with strings quintet. Join us for a reception following the concert.

NMYO’s mission is to provide young musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for cognitive, social, and personal growth through musical performance and community service. Led by Music Director Gerald J. Dolan, Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO creates community connections and collaborations for its young players.

NMYO’s 155 musicians hail from 40 north shore and Boston-area communities.

In addition to the regular rehearsal schedule from September through May, NMYO Symphony Orchestra and other selected musicians participate in the eight-week chamber music program culminating in this Chamber Music Concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center.
