By Against the Grain Theatre
Joel Ivany, director
A modern love story sung in English. The Against the Grain production that started it all, and uprooted opera from the opera house. This fully-staged modern adaptation and English translation of the Puccini classic shifts the tale of struggling artists to the present-day. Miriam Khalil takes the lead as Mimi at the Pyramid Cabaret: the most comforting bar in town. This is La Bohème. Experience it (with wine or beer in hand) for the first time.

Miriam Khalil is known to many Festival patrons for her dramatic performance of Golijov’s Ayre in the Festival’s 2018 Opening Night concert.
