LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO
For more than a half century, the world has been blessed with the hauntingly beautiful voices of South Africa’s iconic singing group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The Grammy-winning Zulu-based ensemble—known for their distinct isicathamiya style of singing— exploded onto the world scene as guest stars on Paul Simon’s Graceland record, and went on to release over 50 acclaimed records of their own. Despite the passing of founder Joseph Shabalala this past year (three of his sons currently help lead the group), Ladysmith remains as vibrant and powerful as ever.

After a spectacular inaugural festival last August, Brian O’Donovan and Maeve Gilchrist return for their 2nd Annual Rockport Celtic Festival, created in partnership with Rockport Music. The 2020 Festival will trace the connections between Celtic music and Scandinavian music—Norway, Denmark, Sweden, The Orkney and Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland.
