Globally renowned a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey In The Rock continues to cultivate, evolve and add memorable moments to their indelible legacy as activists and artists. They have stayed true to their mission to educate, entertain, and empower their audience and community through the dynamic vehicles of a cappella singing and American Sign Language interpretation.
The Grammy-nominated ensemble’s most recent critically-acclaimed CD is #LoveInEvolution features their collective voices and integrates the complex sounds from blues, spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip hop, ancient lullabies, and jazz improvisation into their music. The album also touches on the culturally complex relevance of our times—social justice, human and civil rights.
Currently consisting of members Carol Maillard, Louise Robinson, Nitanju Bolade Casel, Aisha Kahlil, and featured musician Romeir Mendez on upright acoustic bass and electric bass.
