A GALA FEATURING JOAN OSBORNE ACOUSTIC DUO with KEITH COTTON
The Educational Foundation for Rockport (EFR) is celebrating 23 years of supporting the hopes and dreams of Rockport’s public school community with a gala concert featuring singer/songwriter Joan Osborne! Made possible by a generous donation from Rockport High School Alumnus David Cooper and Charis Cooper, this special musical evening not only showcases artist Joan Osborne’s ability to communicate with and uplift people through her music, but also mirrors EFR’s goal of inspiring Rockport’s public school administrators and students to dream big and aim high.
Joan Osborne has long earned a reputation as a commanding, passionate performer and a frank, emotionally evocative songwriter. A seven-time Grammy nominee, with a two-decades-plus recording career, the Kentucky native began her musical career in New York City and went on to release her multi-platinum album Relish in 1995, featuring the number one single “One of Us.” A sought after collaborator and guest performer, as well as a solo artist, she has shared the stage with Bob Dylan and Stevie Wonder among others, sang with Motown’s legendary Funk Brothers, and produced two albums for blues trio the Holmes Brothers, just a few of her many projects.
With its goal of providing funds to support activities and programs not covered through the school budget, the EFR has expanded the scope of learning and opportunity for all of Rockport’s public school students, K-12. From STEM focused Electrothon Electric Car competitions, to the cooperative teamwork of the Ballroom Blitz, to the hands-on environmental experience of Kestrel Education, to access to a world of virtual classes outside the high school’s AP offerings, EFR has been there to help make these hopes and dreams a reality for the past 20 years and seeks your support to make future hopes and dreams attainable in the years to come.
