Youth Instructional Programs
Rockport Music offers two pillar Youth Instructional Programs. These programs take place out of school time, and are sequential, more intensive offerings that allow students to cultivate their technical mastery, develop their individual creative expression, foster a sense of community, and become well rounded musicians through mentorship opportunities.
Cape Ann Jazz Workshop
Founded in 2014, the Cape Ann Jazz Workshop is Rockport Music’s acclaimed two-week summer intensive for young jazz musicians. Led and directed by renowned saxophonist and educator Alexa Tarantino, the program, held at Endicott College, welcomes a prestigious faculty who provide a focused, dynamic, and engaging learning environment for emerging young artists.

“For students interested in jazz, the Workshop offers amazing instruction, performance experience, and team building, including direct mentorship from some of the best up-and-coming bright lights in the professional jazz world.”

Cape Ann Youth Chorus
With a focus on fun and musical exploration, Rockport Music’s Cape Ann Youth Chorus (CAYC) provides young singers, ages 8 and up, with a year-round, engaging, and interactive after-school program. The CAYC offers a wonderfully supportive and inclusive space for students to explore their voices, build confidence, and connect through music. Through weekly rehearsals and regular performances at the Shalin Liu Performance Center and local community events, singers can expect to explore a wide range of repertoire with leaders in the field and peers who value artistic excellence and musical expression all while celebrating the spirit of the Cape Ann region.
