Bridget Kibbey, harp

Harpist Bridget Kibbey illuminates the powerful and expressive range of the concert harp to new audiences around the world. Her virtuosic and soulful performances easily crossover classical, global and jazz genres. Her 2023 solo recording with Pentatone Records, Crossing the Ocean, features special guest soprano Dawn Upshaw.  Kibbey is a winner of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Premiere Prix at the Journées de les Harpes Competition, among others, and is the only harpist to win a place in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program. She has recorded with luminaries including Placido Domingo, Kathleen Battle and Gustavo Santaolalla for SONY Records and Deutsche Grammophon; her own solo debut album, Love is Come Again, was named one of the Top Ten Releases by Time Out New York.

One of her latest touring projects includes a newly commissioned concerto by Brazilian composer João Luiz Rezende, which explores the sounds of Carnaval on the harp. Other powerful collaborations include The Sacred in the Profane that explores French Masterworks of the Belle Époque; Leyenda which celebrates Nuevo Latino Voices; as well as her own adaptations of keyboard concerti and sonatas of J.S. Bach with the Dover Quartet.
